La Casita is open for community programs once again, with an exciting weekly schedule of activities slated for the spring semester.

Returning in 2024 are favorite activities like open studio art workshops, DANZA and STEM each Friday, and music lessons in piano, violin, and guitar.

This year, La Casita is also expanding its offerings to include a special workshop series on Multimedia Storytelling. The first half of the series will consist of 4 workshops in animation and filmmaking with Associate Professor of Film Kelly Gallagher. The second part of the series will be 4 workshops in comic book illustration with Syracuse-based painter and illustrator Cayetano Valenzuela.

La Casita is also launching a new weekly activity called Storytime, which focuses on developing literacy and fostering a love of reading. This workshop is led by MLIS candidate Nychele Crouch (G’24).

Students seeking internship and volunteer opportunities can also come to La Casita to get experience in their field of study while connecting with the community. Students involved at La Casita come from a variety of academic backgrounds including education, communications, visual and performing arts, social work, library science, information technology, business analytics, and so many more.
