Pa' la calle: Student Panel & Open Mic

La Casita Cultural Center will host a Panel Discussion & Open Mic exploring Hip-Hop & Reggaeton. This event serves as the culmination of a year-long project titled Pa' la calle (To the Streets) which examined urban cultures from various vantage points. Pa'la calle, opened to the public in September of 2019 after months of planning and engagement with community members who collaborated in the production. Inspired by urban culture, Pa’ la calle explored life in the barrios, street art, graffiti and artistic expressions through music genres that spring from the hip-hop culture, such as reggaeton, now a global phenomenon.
This event is free and open to the public at La Casita Cultural Center.

ARTE JOVEN / YOUNG ART 2019 celebrates the talents or our youth and achievements of La Casita's programs this year in visual & language arts, music and dance.
This event culminates the work of year-round programming offered in partnership between La Casita, the Point of Contact Gallery, the Spanish Action League, the Manos pre-school program at the Seymour Dual Language Academy (Partners in Learning), and the SU graduate program, Cultural Foundations of Education. This event marks the release of a new bilingual children’s book, written and illustrated by the young participants in La Casita's Reading Circles
