Education, Literacy and Arts Youth Programs

La Casita offers weekly arts and educational programs for local community youth. These programs are free for children ages 6 and up, and are supported through the contribution of student volunteers.

Reading Circle

DEADLINE TO ENROLL JANUARY 29, 2019

Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30pm (weekly)
Ages 8– 12
Reading combined with creative activities that explore the themes of the readings.

  • Improve children’s reading skills in English and Spanish.

  • Engage children in a bilingual, multicultural environment.

  • Develop a friendly relationship with books, stories and art.

  • Inspire children to write orginal story for publications.

STEM

Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30pm (weekly)
Ages 5– 12
Children work with Latino students from the Syracuse University School of Engineering, to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through games and experiments.

 

DANZA

Fridays, 4:30-5:30pm (weekly)
Ages 5-12
Learn to dance to the rhythms of música Latina with La Casita’s DANZA troupe. Experience the joy of dance and the thrill of performing for your community!

 

MÚSICA

Fridays
Students from the Syracuse University Setnor School of Music share their time and talents teaching children to play piano and violin.
